Durable Galvanized Steel Wire for Binding, Fencing, and Construction

Electro and hot-dip galvanized steel wires with uniform zinc coating, smooth surface, and strong tensile strength. Available in coils, spools, or cut length.

What Is Galvanized Steel Wire?

Galvanized steel wire is made by coating carbon steel wire with zinc for corrosion resistance and extended service life. It is widely used in:

Binding and packing

Fencing and barbed wire production

Wire mesh and cages

Cables and electrical grounding

Construction reinforcement and hangers

We offer both hot-dip galvanized (HDG) and electro-galvanized (EG) wires, in soft, hard, or annealed conditions.

Performance Characteristics and Applications of Electro-galvanized Steel Wire and Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Wire

1. Electro-galvanized Steel Wire

1.1 Performance Characteristics

Coating Characteristics: The zinc layer is relatively thin (usually 5-30 micrometers), with a smooth and flat surface, silvery-white in color, and strong decorative properties.

Corrosion Resistance: Corrosion resistance is relatively weak, suitable for indoor or mild environments; passivation treatment is required to improve the protective effect.

Adhesion and Strength: Adhesion is relatively weak, but the process has little impact on the mechanical properties of the substrate, maintaining high tensile strength (900-2200MPa).

Production Efficiency: High production speed, suitable for mass production.

1.2 Main Applications

Precision parts, appliance housings, hardware products, and other applications requiring high aesthetic appeal.

Applications with short-term corrosion protection needs, such as interior decoration and lightweight structural components.

2. Hot-dip galvanized steel wire

2.1 Performance characteristics

Coating characteristics: Thicker zinc layer (45-300 micrometers), rough surface, silvery-gray, forming a zinc-iron alloy layer with strong adhesion.

Corrosion resistance: Excellent corrosion resistance, maintaining rust prevention for decades in harsh outdoor environments.

Mechanical properties: The thick coating may slightly reduce the strength of the substrate, but overall toughness and elasticity are good, with high tensile strength.

Durability: Suitable for long-term exposure to harsh conditions such as high humidity and salt spray.

2.2 Main applications

Outdoor infrastructure: Highway guardrails, power transmission towers, communication lines, etc.

Heavy industry and construction: Bridge cables, marine engineering, steel structure reinforcement.

Agriculture and public facilities: Greenhouse supports, scenic walkways, underground parking lot fencing.

3. Summary of core differences

Process: Electro-galvanizing is electrolytic deposition, while hot-dip galvanizing is high-temperature immersion zinc.

Cost: Electro-galvanizing has a lower cost, while hot-dip galvanizing offers better long-term benefits due to its superior durability.

Application Selection: Electro-galvanizing focuses on decoration and short-term protection, while hot-dip galvanizing is suitable for heavy-duty corrosion protection and long-term durability requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What’s the difference between hot-dip and electro galvanized wire?

A:

HDG wire has a thicker zinc layer and longer lifespan. EG wire is smoother, used for indoor or light-duty applications.

A:

Yes. Our wires are used in both woven and welded mesh production.

A:

Yes. We can cut wire to fixed lengths for hanger wire or support rods.

A:

Absolutely. We tailor zinc weight and hardness according to your application.

A:

Coils are wrapped in plastic film, then stacked on pallets or in crates with moisture protection.
